The Art of Control

TECHNIQUE OVER STRENGTH

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art focused on ground fighting, positional control, and submissions. It's designed so that a smaller, weaker person can defend themselves against a larger opponent using leverage and technique.

At Space Coast MMA, our BJJ program is split into two tracks: Fundamentals & Self Defense for beginners and those focused on practical application, and Advanced BJJ for experienced grapplers looking to sharpen their competition game.

Whether you've never been on a mat or you're chasing your next stripe, our coaches will meet you where you are.

Fundamentals & Self Defense

Mon / Tue / Wed / Thu — 6:00–7:00 PM

Core techniques, escapes, guard work, and real-world self defense scenarios. Open to all levels.

Advanced BJJ

Mon / Thu — 7:00–8:00 PM

Competition-focused drilling, advanced positions, and extended live rolling. Prior experience required.

Common Questions

BJJ FAQ

Do I need experience to start?

Absolutely not. Our Fundamentals classes are designed for complete beginners. You'll learn at your own pace in a supportive environment.

What should I wear to my first class?

Wear comfortable athletic clothing — shorts or joggers and a t-shirt or rash guard. We train No-Gi, so no uniform is required.

Is BJJ safe?

Safety is our top priority. Technique is always emphasized over strength, and our coaches closely supervise all training.

How often should I train?

We recommend 2–3 times per week to start. Consistency matters more than intensity — show up, learn, and the progress will follow.
